There are always things that can go wrong when you are in an interview, but you need to ensure that you aren’t aggravating it. There are some things that the interviewer might over look, but there are also some that they won’t and they will be looking closely for these things. Here are some of the most important things to avoid during when you are in the middle of an interview.

1. Using Your Phone:

One of the quickest ways that you can ruin or end the interview is by using, looking at or answering your phone. If you check your phone during the interview, then it shows the interviewer that you might be bored or that you don’t respect the time that they are taking out of their schedule. Make sure that everyone knows that they shouldn’t call you during this time or keep your phone on silent and leave it in your pocket or your bag. You need to keep it off of vibrate because that will also disturb the interview and the best idea is to turn it off.

2. Dressing Inappropriately:

You need to ensure that you are dressed appropriately when you arrive for the interview. You should avoid all clothing that is too casual, overly tight, too dressy or even extremely loose. You should not wear anything that has a logo or brand written on it since that is a bad sign when it comes to hiring managers. They will be judging you and how you will present yourself to the clients, so this is extremely important. Make sure that you dress how you would be if you were going to the office and not just to impress anyone.

3. Wrong Body Language:

One of the things that you need to avoid is using the wrong body language. Some of the major mistakes that everyone makes includes:

  • No eye contact
  • Not smiling
  • Playing with anything on the table
  • Fidgeting in the chair
  • Crossing the arms over the chest

Make sure that you are using only the best body language and that you avoid doing any of these things. Not only are they wrong, but they can make you come off as arrogant or as if you aren’t interested in the interview or that you are bored.
