Government of India wants that Aadhaar number of everyone must be linked with 4 things. They are Pan Card, SIM card, bank account and Social security Scheme.
In the present time Indian Government has made mandatory to link Aadhaar with many essential things like PAN Card, income tax returns (ITRs) and mobile phone. Moving in this direction all the SIMs card of mobile phone which is not linked with the Aadhaar card till February 2018, would be deactivated.
Plus Aadhaar number will also to be shared with financial institutions and has to be submitted to avail various social security schemes. Aadhaar or UID (Unique Identification Number) is based on biometrics-based data.
Let’s understand what is Aadhaar card?
- Aadhaar number is a 12-Digit unique identification number.
- This 12-Digit unique identification number is issued by Government of India.
- This 12-Unique identification number is unique for every resident of India.
- It is issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
Inorder to link Aadhaar number with PAN card, Mobile SIM card, bank account and with Social security Scheme. Government of India has specified different deadline. Now we will discuss those.
4 Aadhaar-Linking Deadlines:
31 December, 2017-Deadline to link Aadhaar Card with PAN card:
Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has made mandatory to link your Aadhaar card with your PAN card. Early the last date to link Aadhaar card with PAN Card was 31 August, 2017. But now the last date to linking is extended to 31 December, 2017.
If the person fails to link PAN Card with Aadhaar card till 31, December, 2017, the return could be considered invalid and the person may have to file it again which shall be considered belated and may attract penalty, interest and other consequences like dis allowances for losses.
February 2018- Deadline to link Aadhaar card with Mobile SIM card:
According to report by news agency Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) citing sources if your mobile SIM card is not linked with Aadhaar card till February, 2018. Your mobile phone number would be deactivated.
In order to prevent the deactivation of mobile phone connection many telecom companies are sending alerts to their customer to link their mobile SIM card with their Aadhaar number.
31, December,2017- Deadline to link Aadhaar card with Banks/Financial institutions:
Government of India has made mandatory that all banks and financial institutions to link customer Aadhaar details in the KYC (Know Your Customer) documents. For this the dead line is 31 December, 2017. If not done you cannot operate your bank account after 31 December, 2017.
Apart from this government of India has also made mandatory to mention Aadhaar card if the financial transaction is of Rs 50,000 or above.
31, December,2017- Deadline to link Aadhaar Card with Social Security Schemes:
If you want to avail any benefit under social security scheme like avail pension, LPG cylinders or government scholarships then you have to link your social security scheme with Aadhaar card. The last date to link Aadhaar card with social security scheme is 31, December, 2017. After that if the scheme is not linked then no benefit would be getting.
